Nancy Birdsall

Nancy Birdsall is the Center for Global Development's founding president. Prior to launching the Center, she served as Senior Associate and Director of the Economic Reform Project a the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. From 1993 to 1998, Dr. Birdsall was Executive Vice President at the Inter-American Development Bank, following 14 years spent in research, policy, and management positions at the World Bank, including as director of the Policy Research Department.

Dr. Birdsall is the author, co-author, or editor of more than a dozen books and many scholarly papers. She received her Ph.D. in economics from Yale University and M.A. from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
